Jasmine Kime Certified Pilates Instructor| Mini – Interview

Jasmine Kime Certified PIlates InstructorHello my name is: Jasmine Kime

My qualifications are…Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction.

My role is…Principal Pilates Practitioner at my pilates studio in Subiaco, Perth.

What that means is… I have a boutique Pilates studio where I conduct private  Pilates classes.

I was born in… Perth – not long ago ;-)

I first developed an interest in Pilates when…I was introduced to the method by a close friend. With my background in dance, it was a natural progression for me. My first lesson was a semi-private session at a physio practice in Claremont with Abi White. I loved it from the word go, as I’ve never genuinely enjoyed the gym or weights; and I was convinced that Pilates was the ultimate body sculpting programme, giving a long, lean physique – rather than a built up gym-body look.

The reason why I am so passionate about teaching Pilates after all these years is that… I still genuinely love the Pilates method and thoroughly enjoy the process of creating a tailored workout for my clients’, which meets their specific needs. Pilates is so adaptable, and along with the fact that the equipment is so fantastic, (I’m crazy about some of the new pieces I’ve added to my collection last year) it gives me so much scope to work with. I guess I’m a people person, too! I love working with people – sharing time with them, having a laugh, watching them progress. All in all, I seriously find it fulfilling.

My favourite moment at pilatesnow was… attending the Pilates Alliance Australasia conference in Sydney 2015. It was an opportunity to network with leading Pilates professionals who were mentored and trained by Joseph Pilates.

Over the next year, I look forward to…attending a Health Retreat and progressing my Ballroom Dancing classes. I'm loving the variations and dance styles that Gilkisons offer and the social dancing is a great way to perfect my technique. Any chance I get, I can't go past an opportunity to spend more weekends away in Melbourne. You can’t beat the shops there; I think I am becoming addicted to them! I always do a quick ‘run’ down (Chapel Street) and love being in the city every time I’m in town. Not to mention, there are always new bars and cafes to check out.

To me, the best thing about working in the Pilates industry… is networking with Pilates professionals both nationally and abroad. There is a delightful sense of community amongst us all – tied together by not only the bond of Pilates, but through this association, other lifestyle factors too.

You’ll always find me… being extremely busy from teaching early morning clients or power walking; responding to emails; teaching pilates matwork classes – or talking about how there is never enough time in my day!

On a Sunday morning, you can find me…having breakfast at Halo.

My number one vice is…PANA chocolate. Mint is definitely my fave.
